Congratulations on joining the Board of the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America. The future of Scouting in Greenwich is in your hands!

As a board member you assume fiduciary and stewardship responsibility for the Greenwich Council. We know you will approach these duties earnestly. We have identified some expectations to assist you.

  • Attend Board meetings. Your commitment to advance Scouting in Greenwich requires sharing the skills and talents that led to your appointment. We also believe that serving on the board should be fun - an enjoyable experience where all our proceedings are conducted in the spirit of the Scout Law, especially being friendly, courteous and kind.

  • Participate in Council special events, including: Council Recognition Dinner; Eagle Scout Dinner; Golf Tournament; and Council Holiday Party.

  • Serve actively on at least one Council Committee.
Audit; Budget; Endowment; Legacy Gifts; Governance; Scoutreach; Marketing; Camp; Friends of Scouting; Properties; Golf Tournament; Nominating.

  • Make a gift to the annual Friends of Scouting campaign. 100 percent board participation is expected. We recognize we are an economically diverse board and respect that financial ability will vary. We also encourage you to solicit others to invest in Scouting.

  • Support other fund raising efforts. Encourage and solicit others to invest in Scouting by supporting the Golf Tournament, the Endowment Fund and other programs approved by the board.

  • Be an advocate and ambassador for the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America. Stay well informed and able to convey our mission, programs, strengths and needs. Tell the Scouting story to prospective board members, donors, volunteers and those who might not yet know of their interest in Scouting.
