Unit Commissioners
A reason for having Commissioners is to help units succeed. Unless Scouting units are strong and efficient, the program won't reach the boys. The concept for the Commissioner Service focuses on the units. The commissioner's specific mission is to keep units operating at maximum efficiency so that they can deliver the program.
Perhaps no other members of the unit service team have a more important or demanding responsibility. As friends and counselors of unit leaders, unit commissioners operate quietly, generally in the background. They are effective communicators, providing the resources of the district and council to the units they serve. They aid the chartered organizations that operate the units through charters from the Boy Scouts of America.
Professional Staff
The District Professional Staff manages the overall growth, extension, quality, program enhancement, and supervision of the Scouting program within a specified geographical area. The Executive oversees a corps of adult volunteers who in turn support, train, and motivate the adult volunteer leaders delivering the Scouting program.
Professionals are responsible for seeing that things move and happen to meet the needs of youth and families. The District serves institutions through volunteers and a professional staff that supports the volunteer leadership by providing day-to-day administration.
Community groups are supported by registration of members and leaders, advancement programs, communications, commissioner service, training of unit leadership, program enrichment activities, camping facilities, as well as volunteer recognition items, program supplies, planning materials, insurance and monthly roundtables.
Roundtable
Roundtable is your chance to gain additional training and insight into how to be a better Scout Leader, get some new program ideas, and learn about special topics. It is also your chance to network within the Black Wolf District, meet new people, make new friends and share resources. In addition, Roundtable offers you the opportunity to meet with representatives of the volunteers of the Black Wolf District Commissioner Corps to get any kind of expert advice you may need.
Anyone and Everyone are invited to Roundtable, whether you are a veteran district volunteer, or a first time parent of a Tiger Cub; Roundtable has something to offer you. Bring a fellow Scouter to share in this experience!
Leader Training
One of the keys to a successful Scouting experience for young people, second only to the selection of the right person for each responsibility, is trained volunteer leadership. Leadership training provides adult leaders with fundamental information about the aims and methods of the movement, as well as specifics about their particular roles in Scouting.
For this reason, the Black Wolf District is committed to providing top quality training opportunities for leaders, parents and scouts at the district and council levels. Through these efforts, the delivery of a better and quality Scouting program can be provided to our entire youth membership.
The leadership training philosophy of the Boy Scouts of America is to provide adult leaders with fundamental information about the aims and purposes of the movement, as well as specifics about their particular roles in Scouting.
